Scream 7 has only just arrived, but already fans are wondering whether they might see an eighth Scream movie somewhere in the near future.
Fortunately, dedicated fans of the hit horror franchise have plenty to celebrate with Scream 7's record-breaking financial performance. Given the movie's high box office earnings, series creator and Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson is hinting there's some tentative ideas in the work for a prospective Scream 8, as reported by Variety.
As is customary in Hollywood, Williamson specifically said the potential for Scream 8 depends entirely on the success of Scream 7, indicating whether fans still wish to see additional installments of the franchise.
"If this film is successful and there's an audience for it, you know we'll make it because 1, I think the studio would like to make it, and 2, we the people who make these movies would make it because... they're a blast to make and they're so much fun," Williamson said.

Debuting in theaters on February 27, Scream 7 enjoyed the highest-opening week for the franchise, making a significant splash at the box office. In spite of its impressive financial performance, the film has earned mixed to negative reviews from fans and critics of the franchise.
As of yet, there's no word yet on when or if Scream 8 is officially a go at Paramount. As with its previous installments, however, multiple cast and crew members have weighed in their thoughts on a potential Scream 8, hinting a possible sequel somewhere down the road.
"I think everyone should want to do another Scream," original Scream star Courtney Cox, who has returned for every subsequent sequel, shared. "It’s fun and it’s great. I don’t think I can make the next one, but maybe we’ll see.”
Aside from Cox, it's currently not known who else might return for a Scream sequel, although it's a safe bet that Neve Campbell would return for any potential follow-up currently in the works.
