Shawn Hatosy’s character on The Pitt, Dr. Jack Abbot, is a widower — but in real life, the actor has been married to wife Kelly Albanese for over 15 years.
While they have not shared exactly when or how they first met, the couple married in December 2010. They share three sons together: Cassius, Leo and Finn.
The Emmy-winning actor has previously opened up about the support Albanese has shown him throughout his career, specifically at a time before he was cast on the medical drama and was at a “very low point.”
“My wife said, ‘You need to go back to acting class, because you’re not fulfilling yourself in the way that you’re used to. It’s like the gym.’ And so I did, I went back to an acting class,” Hatosy shared in a conversation with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation in August 2025.

She is an actress

Albanese has been acting for over 20 years, with roles in numerous television shows, including episodes of The Fosters, Criminal Minds, Magnum P.I., The Rookie and NCIS: Origins.
Hatosy and Albanese married in 2010

The couple said "I do" at Tivoli Terrace (now Terra Laguna Beach) in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Dec. 18, 2010.
The actor celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in 2016 with a sweet post on Instagram.
“Happy Anniversary @kelhats. Even though it rained that day the most it ever had in the history of Laguna Beach AND someone was really really really late, I wouldn't change a thing... I love you with all my heart," he wrote below a photo from their wedding day.
She shares three sons with Hatosy

Albanese and Hatosy share three sons together: Cassius, Leo and Finn. Cassius was born in 2006, while Leo joined the family six years later in 2012. The couple welcomed their youngest, Finn, in 2017.

Like his parents, Cassius has already expressed interest in acting and made an appearance in a season 11 episode of Chicago Med. He is studying acting at Purchase College, where he is set to graduate in 2028, according to his Instagram.
Being a dad of three has had an impact on Hatosy’s role as Dr. Abbot on The Pitt, he told Esquire in August 2025.
“My son had a medical issue when he was seven, and it was rough, man, as a parent. It went on for a year, and it plagued me, waiting for test results. The emotion that it evoked was not like anything I ever experienced,” he shared.
Hatosy added, “And his doctor was incredible and compassionate and understanding. And she had seen everything. But she really gave us the time and responded to emails at night. That landed with me in thinking about Abbot.”

Albanese made an appearance in the season 2 premiere episode of The Pitt as Reina Burgess, the wife of an emergency room patient who had been dealing with leg cramps for several days.
"My wife Kelly auditioned, and happened to get the part; she has her stage name which is different than my last name,” Hatosy told HELLO! ahead of the episode’s release.
He added, "I didn’t get to work with her, though because Abbot for some reason doesn’t appear in the first couple of episodes!"
Hatosy is grateful for her “sacrifices”

During Hatosy’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, after he won the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on The Pitt, the actor ended his speech by thanking his wife.
“To my wife, who I love, and you’re my partner and my world, and I love you endlessly, and I wouldn’t be here without your sacrifices,” Hatosy said on stage.
Albanese has joined Hatosy on red carpets
