Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jordan Elliott has been abruptly released by the team after he reportedly tried to pull a gun on a teammate.
The team announced on Wednesday morning that Elliott was released following an “incident at our team facility.” The team provided no additional information at the time.
In the hours after the announcement, multiple reporters pieced together the events leading to Elliott’s release.
Sources close to the organization claimed Elliott was involved in an altercation with offensive tackle JC Latham, and Elliott was apparently so incensed during the exchange that he eventually went to his car to get a gun.

A report from Aaron Wilson of Houston’s KPRC2 read:
Elliott went to his car in the players’ parking area to retrieve his gun, presumably to confront Latham with the entire sequence captured by security cameras, per sources. The peacemaker that talked Elliott down, per sources: Titans veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers.
“This was so crazy,” an NFL source said. “Jordan has been having a lot of problems away from the building and obviously he brought it to work with him. There was no reason for him to go off like that. Everyone thought that was wild. To overreact like that is absolutely crazy. We’re just glad that no one got hurt and it’s over.”
Sources also told Wilson that Elliott had been dealing with personal matters and that “he brought that frustration and anger with him to the workplace.”
He was inactive for the Titans’ last game against the Colts.
