Sherri Shepherd came face to face with a wardrobe emergency before appearing on a panel at the Obama Presidential Center, which opened to the public on Juneteenth 2026

The talk show host detailed the incident on Instagram, explaining that Uber canceled her urgent order of a new wig and shapewear

Sherri Shepard is embracing the highs and the lows.

The talk show host, 59, took part in the 2026 Every Child Thrives Festival hosted at the newly opened Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, and posted a hilariously honest Instagram video about how her plans for the event went slightly awry because of a fashion emergency.

In the June 24 post, Shepard said that she forgot her wigs and Spanx shapewear at home, so she placed an order for replacements and sent it to her stepmom's house in the suburbs of Chicago, so that they could later be delivered to her in the city.

However, in a turn of events, Shepard said that the Uber driver canceled the trip — with her "wig and girdles" still in their possession.

"Now, I have to hold in my belly for the entire panel and hopefully find some hair. But you know what? I got a smile because I'm moderating a panel at the Obama [Presidential] Center. I'll be bald-headed and I'll be bloated, but I'll be there," she joked.

Shepard also expressed her worry in the caption of the post, writing, "Lord & Jesus please touch the driver's heart to bring my things back to me."

However, according to videos and photos Shepard is tagged in on Instagram, it looks like the former TheView host eventually got a wig in her possession.

Honesty is the name of the game for Shepard, who has, in the past, not shied away from being vocal about her appearance, especially aging.

In August 2025, the television star recalled a time when she was told by a plastic surgeon that she "needed a facelift," and suggested she get facial fillers to help her look “refreshed.”

“I think for right now, I am loving me just as I am,” Shepard said in a makeup-free video.

“This is my natural face with no makeup. The lines around my mouth are deep because of the laughter from my soul… my eyes are droopy because of the weight of tears I have shed," she wrote. "I have two chins because I have had to hold up anxiety, worry & beautiful memories. My lips turn downward but they quickly turn upwards with joy. My nose gets fuller every year because I need to breathe in a lot of peace."

Back in 2023, she also shared details behind her breast reduction. "I feel lighter. I feel like I can sit up straight, I feel like my body is more proportioned now that my boobs are smaller," she told Entertainment Tonight.

"Now, it's like no wardrobe malfunctions. It feels good. I feel more confident," Shepherd added. "There was a confidence when I had my boobs and it was a certain [kind of] confidence. But now, it's just a freedom. I can do more things. I ran across the street the other day and I didn't have to hold nothing!"
