It's being strongly predicted that actor Matthew McConaughey will run for president in 2028.
McConaughey, 56, fueled speculation that he might vie for the presidency in the next presidential election after he shared a political video on social media over the weekend. Shortly after his video, the betting company Polymarket posted on X, "Matthew McConaughey sparks speculation he could run for president as an independent in 2028, declaring 'Independents belong in the fight,'" quoting part of his statement from his previous video.
Numerous people reacted to Polymarket's post, with several admitting they were open to the Oscar winner, who made an important plea back in July, entering the race for the White House.

"He’s qualified. I mean he’s been in a bunch of movies so he knows how to memorize a script and follow the direction of those behind the scenes," one X user wrote.

A second shared, "He could realistically be president if he picked a side. Most people just don’t even think about the 3rd parties. You can pick blue or red and still have all your same values."

Meanwhile, a third explained, "If Mathew McConaughey runnin then Mathew McConaughey gonna be president." One other even expressed, "Honestly. This would be bada--. As a registered independent , I think it’s important we stay holding more than just two party perspectives."
Although some supported the idea of McConaughey running for president, many believed he should just stick to being a Hollywood actor. "I don't even want to see this moron in a movie. Definitely not in government," one wrote on X as someone else agreed, "He's a great actor but who keeps telling these people anyone wants them to run the country? You pretend to be other people for a living. Do that."

There was one critic who even ranted, "Omgosh , what an idiot ! We love you Matthew , but you are not presidential material . Go smoke a double with Woody and Snoop . Stick with acting."
McConaughey ignited discussions about his potential to be president on Sunday, October 18, when he dropped a six-minute video speaking on the importance of the independent party.
“So, they’ve been telling us for years that an independent vote is a wasted vote. Well, a great question for our times is: How’s that unwasted vote been working out for you?” he said in the video.
McConaughey also explained in his message that it's “not about me right now,” but about the “upcoming ballot," noting, “I’m not here today to endorse a candidate or a party. I’m here endorsing two things: fairness and reality.”
