Kitty Spencer attended the British Museum Ball in London on October 17.
She wore a scarlet dress reminiscent of one her late aunt, Princess Diana, wore in 1989.
Spencer is one of the daughters of Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer.
Kitty Spencer is taking a page out of Princess Diana’s style book. The 35-year-old niece of the late royal channeled one of her ‘80s ensembles at the British Museum Ball in London on October 17.
Spencer sported a scarlet gown complete with a matching floor-length cape. The intricately pleated design echoed Diana’s Bruce Oldfield dress from a 1989 state banquet, which featured a drop-waist silhouette and a flared mermaid skirt. This gown, however, also included a metallic checkered pattern.

Spencer accessorized with an impressive diamond collar, worth around $300,000 according to jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia. Speaking to Marie Claire, he called the piece “a confident choice with an already dramatic dress.”
He added that the necklace gives “the whole look a very grand, almost regal quality,” as well as “the appearance of lace” with its openwork setting.

“A solid necklace of that width could look quite heavy, whereas here you can appreciate the pattern against her skin,” Rakholia said.
Kitty and her younger twin sisters, Amelia and Eliza, are the three eldest daughters of Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer.

Kitty also channeled Diana at Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda show in Italy back in July. Kitty posted photos of the look to her Instagram, and the silhouette of her vibrant purple dress is similar to that of one of Diana’s iconic purple looks by Victor Edelstein, worn by Diana in a royal portrait alongside Prince Charles in 1991. It later appeared in a 1997 Vanity Fair editorial shot not long before her untimely death that August.
As for Kitty, she paired her strapless purple gown with statement jewelry—both earrings and a floral-inspired necklace. She wore her blonde hair up in an elegant bun to show off the jewelry and the stunning sweetheart neckline of her dress.
