King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the U.S. has officially begun.
The royal couple touched down on U.S. soil on Monday afternoon and were immediately whisked away to begin their four-day state visit, which marks the King's first official trip to the U.S. since taking the throne.
This visit is tied to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence from the United Kingdom and a partnership of "shared prosperity, security and history," according to the U.K. Foreign Office. It will include engagements in Washington, D.C., New York City and Virginia, with each representing an important facet of the longtime bond between the U.S. and the U.K.
Find out where the royals will go on their visit.
Monday, April 27 — Washington, D. C.
The King and Queen arrived at Joint Base Andrews around 3 p.m. local time and were transported to the White House, where they were welcomed by President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump. The two couples greeted each other on the South Portico of the White House and posed for photos.

The royals joined the Trumps for a private tea and were given a tour of the first lady's beekeeping program on the White House grounds, to which she recently added a beehive in the shape of the famous presidential residence.
Then, the King and Queen traveled to the British embassy to attend a massive garden party. Guests from the U.K. and U.S. were invited, including British Olympian Tom Daley, members of the Trump administration, like deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and other politicians and members of the press like Nancy Pelosi and CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

On Tuesday, the Trumps will welcome the King and Queen back to the White House, where the royal couple will split off for separate engagements. King Charles will sit down with President Trump for a meeting on political matters, while Queen Camilla will join Melania for an engagement of their own.
Then, the King will follow in his mother's footsteps, becoming just the second-ever British monarch to deliver an address to a joint meeting of Congress. The late Queen Elizabeth delivered a speech at the Capitol in 1991, the third of four official state visits to the U.S. she made over the course of her reign.
That evening, a state dinner will be held at the White House in honor of the King and Queen's visit.

On the following day, the royals will travel to New York City where they will visit, among other sites, the 9/11 memorial at One World Trade Center.

That afternoon, the King and Queen will make separate appearances, with King Charles visiting a community engagement center.
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla will visit The New York Public Library, where she will present a newly crafted "Roo" toy to the library's collection of Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals to celebrate the centenary of the beloved characters.
The five original toys inspired by A.A. Milne’s classic stories — Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and Kanga — have been on permanent public display at the library since 1987. However, Roo was lost in an apple orchard in England in the 1930s and has long been absent from the collection.
Thursday, April 30 - Virginia
On Thursday, the King and Queen will bid farewell to the Trumps, the White House and Washington and head to Virginia. There, they will meet local residents and community organizations and observe performances by Appalachian cultural groups. They will also attend a “block party” in a national park to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

The White House confirmed on Sunday, April 26, that the King and Queen's visit would "proceed as planned" following the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday night.
After gunfire left one Secret Service agent injured as the annual political event began on April 25, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told PEOPLE, "Following discussions on both sides of the Atlantic through the day, and acting on advice of government, we can confirm the state visit by their Majesties will proceed as planned."

"The King and Queen are most grateful to all those who have worked at pace to ensure this remains the case and are looking forward to the visit getting underway tomorrow," the spokesperson added.
PEOPLE understands that Charles and Camilla reached out privately to Donald Trump and Melania Trump following the shooting incident. Trump confirmed that he and the King had spoken in an interview with CBS News on Sunday.
"They called, and they are so looking forward to being here," he said. "We spoke this morning."
