Harry Styles shares why he laughed at his grandmother’s funeral

Harry Styles has opened up about why he couldn’t control his laughter at his grandmother’s funeral, giving a peek into the emotions that surfaced that day.

During his appearance on Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, Styles made a sheepish confession that he laughed at his grandmother’s funeral. The conversation took a turn when Broski asked the Grammy winner about locations that deserved a song, leading him to quip about a crematorium.

The former One Direction member confessed, “I really like cremation songs.” The unexpected admission took Broski by surprise, while the crew erupted in laughter. The 32-year-old explained that his unusual fascination with cremation songs began after his grandmother passed away.

Styles recalled being at his grandmother’s funeral and laughing when the song playing suddenly fit the moment. The Beatles’ The Long and Winding Road was the tune that struck him as unexpectedly fitting. “It feels so inappropriate because of how abrupt it was,” he shared. “And then I just started thinking about inappropriate cremation songs.”

Styles and Broski then started brainstorming songs that fit the cremation theme, tossing out ideas like Dan Hartman’s “Relight My Fire,” The Trammps’ “Disco Inferno,” and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”

As for the reason why he appeared on the talk show, Harry Styles was there to promote his upcoming album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, which hits stores on March 6, 2026.

Styles is also gearing up for his Together, Together tour later this year, his first major gig since wrapping up Love on Tour in 2023. The tour will hit seven cities – Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York, Melbourne, and Sydney – with 50 shows through December.
