Harrison Ford says he follows a simple — but important — rule in his marriage with wife Calista Flockhart.
The 83-year-old actor opened up about the pair's relationship at the 2026 Actor Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 1. In a red-carpet interview with E! News, Ford revealed, “I don't tell my wife what to do.”
That applies to both their home life and careers. Addressing whether Flockhart, 61, might make a future appearance on his Apple TV show Shrinking, he explained, "That would be up to her.”
During Sunday's awards ceremony, Ford was honored with SAG-AFTRA's annual Lifetime Achievement Award. He delivered an emotional, eight-minute-long acceptance speech onstage that had both him and his wife teary-eyed.

"Sometimes we make entertainment; sometimes we make art. Sometimes we're lucky to make 'em both at the same time, and if we're really fortunate, we also get to make a living doing it," he said as he reflected on his decades-long acting career, later adding, "I'm indeed a lucky guy. Lucky to have found my people, lucky to have work that challenges me, lucky to still be doing it. And I don't take that for granted."
Ford went on to thank his "extraordinary, beautiful wife" Flockhart and his family, "who have given me love and courage through all of it."

Flockhart, who was seated in the audience, could be seen crying as she listened to her husband's speech.
She and Ford met at the 2002 Golden Globes and tied the knot eight years later in 2010. They will celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary in June.
Last year, the Indiana Jones star opened up about his romance with the Ally McBeal alum during an August 2025 appearance on NPR's Wild Card with Rachel Martin. During the conversation, he also shared what age has taught him about love, telling Martin, “Old people can love, too."

“You know, you think about falling in love and all of that business," Ford continued. "You think it’s the business of youth or something, you know, and staying in love is the issue. Maintaining, nurturing, basically, not f---ing up.”
He noted that couples in relationships have to "work on that every day," quipping, "With some days off for bad behavior."
When asked how long he and Flockhart had been married, Ford replied, "If you ask me, I would say all my life. I was married for the first time at 23 years of age, which should be illegal," referring to his first marriage to ex-wife Mary Marquardt.
Early into his relationship with the Brothers & Sisters actress, Ford reflected on finding love again in a 2003 interview with Hello!, saying, "Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did."
