- *Deadliest Catch* star Trey John Green III says that his costar Todd Meadows' death was caught on camera.

- "There is a deck cam as well that records 24-7, everything, and it caught everything from the incident," Green explained.

- Green added, "Todd was an amazing human" who "was doing a great job" at the time of his death.

Todd Meadows' untimely death was captured on camera, according to one of his *Deadliest Catch* costars.

Trey John Green III, who appears on the Discovery fishing series alongside the late deckhand, told *Us Weekly* that a camera was rolling as Meadows fell overboard on Aleutian Lady in the Bering Sea on Feb. 25.

"It was filmed, unfortunately," Green said. "Discovery is done filming, but there was a producer and a deck cam guy on the boat for the past two months filming for season 22 of the show."

Green added, "There is a deck cam as well that records 24-7, everything, and it caught everything from the incident as well."

*Deadliest Catch* was at the tail end of production on its 22nd season when the accident occurred last month, and the Aleutian Lady was the last ship still at sea at the time of the incident, EW has learned. Filming for the season is finished.

"Todd was an amazing human," Green told *Us*, noting that the late fisherman "was doing a great job" on the day of his death and that he believed the accident was "none of Todd's fault."

Green also said that the crew "did everything we could to save him" when Meadows fell overboard, but that when you're "out at sea," it's "no easy task" to save an overboard colleague.

Captain Rick Shelford, who stars on the reality series that follows crab fishermen aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea, announced Meadows' death on Monday, describing the day of the incident as "the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea."

Shelford wrote, "Todd was the newest member of our crew. He quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always."

A spokesperson for the U.S. Coast Guard later told EW that personnel received word of Meadows' death around 5:05 p.m. on Feb. 25. "A crew member by the name of Todd Meadows fell overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor," the spokesperson said. "He was recovered unresponsive by the crew approximately 10 minutes later. First aid and attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful, and the crew transported the deceased to Dutch Harbor."
