Colleen Hoover Bestseller Comes to Life in New Trailer

Amazon MGM has released the trailer for Verity, the film adaptation of ColleenHoover’s bestselling novel. The psychological thriller will star AnneHathaway, DakotaJohnson, and JoshHartnett.

The 2018 book is the latest Hoover publication to grace the big screen in two years. Her previous novels adapted into movies, It Ends With Us, Reminders of Him, and RegrettingYou, all saw success at the box office.

The upcoming film focuses on Johnson’s character, LowenAshleigh. The protagonist is hired to finish the book of the injured best-selling author VerityCrawford (Anne Hathaway). Lowen finds a shocking manuscript that makes her question whether Verity is trustworthy.

“Even with my continuous warning, you’re going to continue to ingest my words. But know one thing: There is no light where we’re going,” Hathaway says in the official teaser.

In the trailer, Lowen creeps through her boss's home in a silk robe while Verity is shown fast asleep in another room. The young writer played by Johnson finds Jeremy, Verity’s husband, whom she embraces with a kiss. As Lowen pulls away, she is terrified to see Verity instead of Jeremy.

The trailer released on YouTube echoes Hathway’s line with the caption “There is no light where we’re going.”

Hoover will work as a producer for the film.

“I've had such a great experience being involved with 'Reminders of Him,' and I was able to be involved in 'Verity' and be on set for a lot of that," Hoover told USA TODAY. "I really enjoy being more active."

The bestselling author is pleased with the house in the film, which was revealed in the newly released trailer.

"I feel like I didn't even come close to doing justice to the house like they did in the movie," she said. "Even the roof line is a bunch of V's, and on the inside, you walk in, and somehow it looks like canoes. It was almost like the house was built for the movie, so it becomes its own character."
