Members of the Royal Family gathered at Crathie Kirk in Aberdeenshire today for a Sunday morning service during their annual summer stay at the nearby Balmoral estate.

The King and Queen were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who brought all three of their children, as well as the Princess Royal, accompanied by her husband Sir Tim Laurence.

The Duke of Edinburgh also attended alongside his daughter Lady Louise.

A guard of honour was mounted by troops from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, as the royals made their way to the small granite church.

The royal party arrived in a convoy of vehicles, with Charles and Camilla travelling in the lead car.

William was behind the wheel of the second vehicle, carrying Catherine and their three children.

The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence occupied a separate car with the Duke of Edinburgh and Lady Louise.

Soldiers from the regiment stood in formation along both sides of the tree-lined driveway, and the motorcade passed between their ranks before delivering the family to the church entrance.

Several well-wishers had assembled at the front of the kirk to watch the royals arrive.

The family had arrived at Balmoral for their customary summer break earlier in the week.

The compact Church of Scotland parish kirk has long served as the royals' regular place of worship during their Highland holidays, and the late Queen Elizabeth II was a frequent attendee at services there.

The outing took place just days after it was revealed that the Duke of Sussex is set to return to the UK imminently.
