The Los Angeles Lakers may have a gem in incoming rookie Cameron Carr. They acquired him during the NBA draft on Tuesday by trading the rights to their No. 25 pick after he was taken by the New York Knicks with the No. 24 overall selection, and he is someone who was expected to be chosen earlier in the draft.
Carr is dynamic and very athletic, and he is an excellent shooter and an electrifying finisher at the hoop. He also may have already endeared himself to Lakers fans by throwing some shade at Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
When he was asked whether he would rather guard Gilgeous-Alexander or Minnesota Timberwolves franchise player Anthony Edwards, he chose Edwards, and he gave a simple reason by saying, “I ain’t dealing with the flopping.”

This season, as the Thunder looked to defend their 2025 NBA championship, Gilgeous-Alexander started to gain some contempt around the league for his alleged foul-baiting and acting. He averaged nine free throw attempts during the regular season, which was fourth in the league, and he led everyone in made free throws by shooting 87.9% from the foul line.
While the two-time MVP continued to draw fouls and hit from the charity stripe during the playoffs, the Lakers were able to somewhat put the clamps on him during the Western Conference semifinals. During that series, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 24.5 points a game and shot 47.1% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range, compared to 31.1 points a game on 55.3% overall shooting and 38.6% from downtown during the regular season.
Oklahoma City, however, got the last laugh, as it swept the Lakers in four straight games.
