'Caitlin Cult Is Gonna Be in Shambles' -- Jason Whitlock Calls Out Fever Star's Fans After Angel Reese's 30-Point Explosion in Game 2 of WNBA FinalsDespite being a three-time All-Star and the WNBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Angel Reese has invited plenty of criticism and comparison. And even though it’s Reese’s Atlanta Dream currently competing in the WNBA Finals, some can’t help but bring up Caitlin Clark, whose Indiana Fever were eliminated in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

Despite being a three-time All-Star and the WNBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Angel Reese has invited plenty of criticism and comparison.

And even though it’s Reese’s Atlanta Dream currently competing in the WNBA Finals, some can’t help but bring up Caitlin Clark, whose Indiana Fever were eliminated in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

Now that Reese has delivered a signature performance in Game 2 of the Finals, Jason Whitlock brought up Clark’s name to stir up a debate within the fanbase.

Is Angel Reese’s Big Game Bad News for Caitlin Clark Stans?

Reese had one of her best games yet, going off for 30 points and 16 rebounds in the Dream’s big 79-65 win over the Golden State Valkyries to tie the series at one win apiece.

Taking note of the Atlanta forward’s dominant showing against Natalie Nakase’s side, Jason Whitlock took to X to suggest Reese’s big game will only rile up the Clark fan base.

ā€œThe broadcast of the WNBA Finals is so high school it’s more embarrassing than the brutal play,ā€ Whitlock wrote. ā€œOn the plus side, Angel Reese dropped 30 points tonight. The Caitlin Cult is gonna be in shambles.ā€

Owing to her jaw-dropping production on Monday night, Reese became the youngest player in WNBA Finals history to record a 20-point double-double, as per UnderDogWNBA.

An achievement impressive enough to draw rave reviews in its own right.

Another hoops fan on social media couldn’t help but point out that Reese now has a higher scoring output in an individual game in the WNBA playoffs than Clark has. The Fever star’s playoff career-high sits at 27 points, and Reese just topped that by three points.

Monday’s win evens the best-of-seven series at 1-1 and hands the Dream the first Finals win in franchise history after the organization went 0-10 following their Game 1 loss.

Atlanta also snapped Golden State’s dominant home momentum in front of 18,064 fans in the raucous Ballhalla, handing the Valkyries their first loss in regulation since August 21.

Now the question becomes how Reese can handle herself in a pivotal Game 3. She scored just 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Game 1 after being held scoreless in the second half.

And with such a showstopping performance on Monday, she’s bound to command more attention in their next matchup. But will the Valkyries be able to shut her down on Wednesday?
