While Natalie Harp has been thrust into the public eye and captured media attention this week, American comedian Bill Maher revealed why he won't be cracking jokes about the president's "human printer."
President Donald Trump's 35-year-old executive assistant has shot to national fame after she was selected as one of the few staffers to accompany the president when he made his secret escape onto a plane via a catering container after leaving the NATO Summit in Turkey last month. After the discreet plane switch — which left other Trump officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, on the "decoy" plane — Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff criticized Trump this week for wanting to "build his ballroom and travel with Natalie" instead of fulfilling his duties.
This comes after Natalie Harp gained a new nickname after an embarrassing moment on Trump's golf course.

On the Friday, August 21, installment of Maher's HBO talk show, Real Time, he discussed Ossoff's remarks about Trump and Harp, along with the speculation that has swirled about their professional relationship since.
Maher, 70, paused to mention his 2024 legal dispute with far-right political commentator Laura Loomer. Loomer brought a defamation lawsuit against Maher after he implied in a joke that Trump was having an affair with someone, and said, "I think it might be Laura Loomer." The case was later thrown out, reports the Irish Star.

"Okay, let me tell you, folks. I got sued about this once," he told the audience.

"No. Not the Orangutan. No, this was just a couple years ago. Laura Loomer sued me. I won, by the way. But it's expensive and unpleasant to get sued. So, you know, I took one for the team on this – you handle it."
Maher then shifted his attention to Natalie Harp, a close aide to President Trump, quipping: "All I'm going to say... Natalie is kind of Trump's emotional support employee, that's true," Maher joked. "She travels with him everywhere, and she brings a portable wireless printer so she can print out flattering news articles."
Harp reportedly earned the nickname "human printer" during Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, due to her habit of following him around with a portable printer to produce hard copies of news stories and social media drafts. She is also said to assist Trump with his social media presence.

Bill Maher came to Natalie Harp's defense, arguing that people just want "someone new to hate"
Coming to her defense, Maher remarked: "I don't know why you have to go after her, you know?" Maher said in his defense of Harp. "She seems incredibly devoted to her job, never takes a day off. Sometimes she works so hard she forgets to eat and sleep, and now everyone in America is saying the same thing: Why can't I get a millennial who works like that?"
He then added some context, saying: "There is, you know, a little more to the story. She had bone cancer in her 20s. She likes Trump because he speeded up experimental treatments, which she believes helped her," he continued. "But you know in America it's just like, oh good, someone new to hate."
Harp has spent years demonstrating her steadfast loyalty to the president, rising into his orbit after she credited Trump for saving her life. During a 2019 Fox and Friends appearance, she claimed that Trump-backed legislation known as the Right to Try law allowed her access to experimental medication for her bone cancer.

She continued to express her admiration for the president at the 2020 Republican National Convention. Harp subsequently became a far-right anchor at One America News Network before joining Trump's staff in 2022 and taking on the role of his executive assistant at the start of his second term.
It appears that Harp is one subject that Maher plans to avoid making jokes about on his talk show. In addition to the quiet plane swap, Harp has attracted public attention after The Daily Beast released two letters on Thursday that she allegedly sent to the president.
One message stated, in part, "You are all that matters to me. I don't want to ever let you down." The New York Times had previously covered an excerpt from one of the letters.
